As you are aware, recently our www.maheshpanthi.net has been upgraded with various new features, thereby enabling all of us to share our views on one common platform.
I take this opportunity to inform you that we must avail blog facility to exchange our views/suggestions. All of you are requested to please write your views, ideas and suggestions on the blog, so that areas of development can be taken for discussion and implementation. Presently, our community does not have any registered national/international association. Lot of work needs to be done in educational, social and religious fields. Just running website and posting religious messages will not serve any purpose. In fact, learned and educated people must come forward to shoulder responsibility of our society.
Our website wants to take initiative in public service at national/international level. As such, we wholeheartedly request all our community members to give your willingness to work with us, so that we can form various Committees/Sub-Committees. We also intend to organize meeting (get-to-gather) of all our willing members.
We, therefore, request you to please provide your complete details like name, age, address, telephone No., mail ID, educational qualification, areas of expertise, etc. on above ‘Contact Us’ tab and give your willingness to work as a team member of www.maheshpanthi.net. We also request you to please propagate this message and encourage/motivate other fellow brothers & sisters of our community to join us as TEAM MEMBER, as we do not have mail addresses of all community members.
We believe your association and help shall pave the way for better future of our community in near future.

A research quest of a French scholar on Barmati Panth!!
My view.
The book Sindh Through History and Representations is edited by the French scholar Dr Michel Boivin who himself contributed two articles. The book is a French writers’ contribution to the Sindhi studies about history, culture, language, literature, ethnography and religion. Prof Dr Francoise Mallison is an eminent scholar of Indian medieval history particularly belonging to Bhakti and Sant Vanis (the sacred verses of the saints) of Kutchh and Saurashtra between the period 12th century A.D. and as recent as the 20th century A.D. She has in her credit more than dozen of research articles on such topic in both English and French languages, excelled herself as an authority on the medieval religious history of Kutchh and Saurashtra. In the present book, she has attempted a painstaking effort to sum up a very fresh and new topic Barmati Panth: The Messianic Sect established in Sindh, Kutchh and Saurashtra in order to reveal the ancient traditions of an 11th century A.D. local religion Barmati Panth whose followers are to be called Maheshvari Meghwar scattered all over these regions across the border. Since the time immemorial, Sindh was connected to the culture and geography of Kutchh and Saurashtra is a well known historical fact as the migratory trends across the famous desert Runn of Kutchh brought cultural patterns and linguistic homogeneity through their people. This historical phenomenon has deep imprints on the religious life of the people of the both sides. Barmati Panth is such a religious order which shares such characteristic among the Sindhi, Kutchh and Gujarati Maheshvari Meghwar people. Through the oral traditions and other religious symbols depicted into the Panth, the author tries to prove it a syncretistic sect but now the sect has completely transformed into Hinduism. The 11th century A.D. Barmati Panth broke new ground for the famous Bhakti and Reformist movement in the 11th century A.D. led by Shree Dhani Matang Dev as its founder. The Meghwar followers of this sect believe their sect is a part of grand Hindu Sanatan Dharma and Shree Matang Dev as the avatar of the main Hindu deity Lord Shiva (in the manifestation of Mahesh due which the Panth is also called Mahesh Panth). Its other three descendants and spiritual leaders were Lurang Dev, Matai Dev and Mamai Dev. On this account, Dr Mallison is credited to have unravel the hidden traditions of Barmati Panth since the time of its inception bringing it on international arena, once the very Panth was supposed as Gupt Panth by its own followers. In the end, some verses from the sacred scripture of Barmati Panth have been given which might be replaced with more important and famous verses which were already in the disposal of the authoress. In fact a separate gigantic work is yet to carry out on the history of Barmati Panth, at this stage, the introductory work done on academic basis is nevertheless a breakthrough in the studies of Mediaeval history of Indian Subcontinent.
